KKTM Kuantan or KKTMKU was planned under the 7th Malaysia Plan and the development started since 23rd September 2003. The construction period was five years and this college started its operation in May 2008. The land area is 100 acres with the first phase of the construction was 75 acres and involving the construction cost of RM 58,257,418.98 (contract cost). KKTMKU is the first KKTM that offers Diploma in Manufacturing Engineering programmes and the fourth KKTM developed by MARA. KKTMKU are equipping with advance technology in machineries in for manufacturing purposes. One of the precious technologies is rapid prototyping in metal and plastic.
