Under Paid Engineers in Malaysia:
A Study on Fresh Graduate Engineers and Experienced Engineers

Abstract

Underpaid salary is a global issue in both developed and developing countries that causes social and economic problems and is the target of mitigating programs both nationally and internationally. This will indirectly lead to salary inequality issue as well. This study aims to analyze, examine, and compare the factors of fresh and experienced engineers being underpaid.

To conduct the research, four identified variables will be used: oversupplied graduates, limited job opportunity, unavailability of employment according to skill sets and cost of living. A simple random sampling will be amended, and the sample size consists of 100 samples that will be divided into two groups, fresh engineers, and experienced engineers. The researcher will be using a questionnaire to gather data for this study.

The data will be analyzed by using the Statistical Package from Social Science Version 25 (SPSSv 25). The study’s findings were clarified by implementing frequency analysis, descriptive analysis, correlation and multiple regression to address the objectives of research.
