Women Leaders And The Glass Ceiling In The Malaysia Corporate Sector

Abstract

Women often take the lead and initiate in their own local communities, yet they remain under represented in most areas of decision making in the corporate world. As women increasingly enter leadership roles that traditionally were occupied mainly by men, the possibility that the leadership styles of women and men differ continues to attract attention. A research has been done on 80 top multinational companies operating in Malaysia which is listed is Bursa Malaysia to identify the number of women involvement in the Board of Directors. The purpose of this research is to identify the reason of such gender discrimination the leadership styles involved and suggestion to reduce the main barrier of gender discrimination which is known as the glass ceiling.
